1906 Since being organized as the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Immanuel Church with 10 communicants, Emanuel has weathered the challenges of change in leadership, members, and neighborhood demographics.
1956 The congregation makes a pivotal decision to remain at the East Dallas location and not relocate in spite of the changing demographics of the neighborhood. Emanuel's ministry gradually took on a new focus during the ensuing years as it evolved into an inner-city church.

1984 The congregation sponsors an Indochinese ministry for a time after hundreds of Indochinese refugees are resettled in the East Dallas neighborhood.

1991 Emanuel's church building is approved for listing on the National Register of National Historic Places.
1995 Emanuel is recognized as a national historic place and is registered with the Register of National Historic Places with the United States Department of Interior. Several committees are formed for planning sanctuary restoration.
